Failure Friday, everyone fails, but not everyone gets to share it!

‍What is Failure Friday?

A place to celebrate Failure! Rather than fear it...

Today, wherever we look, perfection is impressed upon us, and with it an undercurrent of pressure for every one of us to 'be our best selves'. At all times...

But of course, this isn't how the world works. And more importantly, it creates an expectation that failure is something to be ashamed of. And that's something that the folks over at Antler (a global early-stage VC enabling exceptional founders to start great companies) and Techspace fundamentally disagree with.

So we decided to launch our own event series to sway the balance.

Full disclosure, this initiative has been successful many times over, most notably by Digital Brighton, a conference for the creative industries, where it was labelled Church of Fail. As Darren Murphy (Associate Director at Antler) neatly put it, "It was a space to share, and talk about the things they messed up and the lessons they learned along the way".

So here it is, alongside Antler, we launched Failure Friday to shine a light on mistakes and celebrate failures. Bringing together our respective forward-thinking communities to share their failures on stage, to a live audience!

Progress is not inevitable —the world needs talented, determined, and resilient people to make it happen. Failure is part of that.

A little taster from our 1st event!

In our very first event, Charles Armitage, CEO @ Florence (the HealthTech startup revolutionising social care staffing) and Lara Stallbaum, Co-Founder & CPO @ Twirl (the startup helping brands transform their eCommerce to be video-first) shared their failures openly to a live audience of 75 bright-eyed Techspace and Antler members. Presentations were then followed by a Q&A and a networking with drinks and Pizza!

The space, The Loading Bay

The series takes place at The Loading Bay, Techspace Shoreditch’s event space. 

With its open plan 2,000 sq ft layout and adjacent mezzanine, our dry hire space is able to accommodate up to 100 people seated and 250 standing. 

The flexible nature of the space makes it ideal for a range of event types, including; workshops, product launches, team days, networking events and conferences/talks like Failure Friday.
